BLS Termination of Resuscitation Rule for Adult OHCA

This flowchart depicts Basic Life Support (or BLS) Termination of Resuscitation. It begins with an orange box at the top listing three criteria: “Arrest not witnessed by emergency medical services personnel. No return of spontaneous circulation (prior to transport). No A.E.D. shock was delivered (prior to transport).” From this box, a line branches into two pathways. One green box states: “If all criteria are present, consider termination of resuscitation.” The other green box says: “If any criteria are missing, continue resuscitation and transport.” This figure is copyright 2015 by the American Heart Association. There is a caption beneath this Figure which reads: “BLS termination-of-resuscitation rule for adult OHCA.”
